How to Prevent Sticking When Cast Iron Cooking
A well seasoned cast iron pan should not stick. The food should be able to move around just like cooking in a non stick pan. If you have a cast iron pan it is important to clean it the right way. When cleaning a cast iron pan, you should never use soap, only hot water and a rag. The soap removes the oils that will cause the pan to be nonstick. If your cast iron pan is sticking, you will need to reseason the pan. Start with a 350 degree oven. Add oil to the pan and bake it for an hour. This is the first step to seasoning the pan. When it comes out of the oven, wipe the pan dry with paper towels or napkins. This will make the cast iron pan shiny like a well seasoned pan. Every time you add oil to the pan, like after you have cooked and cleaned it, this adds to the seasoning process.
