There are a couple of variations that I know of and would use myself. You could add garlic or shallots to the dish for added flavor. You could add a dash of Red Pepper Flakes to give a slight bit of heat. You could also try a different cheese. Gruyere and Mozzarella are great, as is Gouda.

- White cooking wine
- Garlic powder
- Sweet onions thinly sliced
- Butter
- Heavy whipping cream
- Olive oil
- Cayenne pepper
- Parmesan cheese grated
- Salt and pepper to taste

How to make Roasted Parmesan Creamed Onions:
Step 1. Heat the oven to 375 degrees, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Then slice the onions.

Step 2. Layer the onions on the baking sheet.
Step 3. Drizzle the onions with the oil, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4. Bake for 15 minutes.

Step 5. While the onions are baking, add the wine, butter, garlic powder, heavy whipping cream, and cayenne pepper to a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer until the mixture begins to thicken.

Step 6. Remove the onions, and raise the oven temperature to 450 degrees.
Step 7. Pour the sauce mixture over the onions, and sprinkle with cheese.

Step 8. Cover the baking sheet with tin foil, and bake for 20 minutes.

Step 9. Uncover, and bake for another 10 minutes.

- 4 Tbsp. Butter

- 3 Tbsp. Olive oil
- ¼ tsp. Cayenne pepper
- ½ C. Parmesan cheese grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

You could freeze them, although a separation may have occurred within the cheese upon thawing. I do not recommend freezing the onions.
