When you go out to eat at a Mexican restaurant, what is the first thing you look forward to (besides the margarita)? Salsa and or cheese dip with chips is top on our list and we are sure most of you can relate.

What happens when you want to enjoy such an amazing meal at home? Sure, you could order from your local delivery service; but it’s going to be cold and hard by the time you sit down to eat it.

There is also something fun about trying new recipes at home to broaden your culinary skills. It can be intimating to shop for new recipes but this Mexican Restaurant Cheese has incredibly simple ingredients to transcend you to your local Mexican eatery. But, buying those canned cheeses from the grocery store never tastes anywhere near as good as those authentically made from the restaurant.

Mexican Restaurant Cheese is a recipe that allows you to create a new appetizer or side for any occasion. Make this dip for parties, lazy weekends, or international dinner nights. With tremendous flavor and a smooth consistency; you won’t be able to put the chips down.

Yes, we use American cheese BUT it is leveled up with Spanish-style spices to bring the taste of your favorite restaurant to your own home.  Your friends will be begging you to bring this Mexican Restaurant Cheese to every get-together.

Can I substitute the American Cheese for another style to get the same flavor?

If you decide to substitute the cheese you need to first make sure the type you use is easily meltable without burning. You need sturdy cheese for this recipe. The flavor is up to you! If you want something milder you could use a traditional yellow American cheese or if you are looking for more heat use one that has jalapenos in it.

Here is all you need to create your Mexican Restaurant Cheese at home.

1 lb. Deli sliced white American cheese (use a spicy cheese for a stronger kick)

3-4 Tbsp. Chopped green chilis (canned or fresh)

½ tsp. Cumin

⅔ C. Milk

1 tsp. Chipotle powder (optional)

Let’s put your Mexican Restaurant Cheese together!
