Ingredients for the Cookies:
4 Eggs
1 cups Sugar
½ cups Sweet cream butter
2 tsp cups Madagascar extract
3 ½ cups Flour
4 tsp Baking powder
Icing:
2 cups Confectioners sugar (Sifted)
2 tsp Madagascar extract
8 tsp Water
Garnish:
Sprinkles
Directions for the Cookies:
Step 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Step 2. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Step 3. Mix flour and baking powder together in a medium bowl.
Step 4. In a large bowl combine butter and sugar beating until smooth.
Step 5. Using a hand mixer, blend the butter mixture with eggs and madagascar extract.
Step 6. Beat in the eggs and madagascar extract.
Step 7. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Mix well.
Step 8. Use your hands to knead the dough together. If needed add extra flour to stop the dough from sticking to your fingers.
Step 9. Roll out the cookie dough, cut the dough into equal sized logs. Twirl each piece of dough.
Step 10. Place the cookies on the prepared cookie sheet.
Step 11. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
Directions for the Icing:
Step 1. Whisk to blend the water, madagascar extract, and confectioners sugar in a small bowl.
Step 2. Dip each cookie into the icing.
Step 3. Place paper towels on the counter. Place the iced cookies on a wire drying rack.
Step 4. Garnish the cookies with sprinkles.
Italian Christmas Cookies
Ingredients
- 4 Large Eggs
- 1 cups White Sugar
- ½ cups Unsalted Butter
- 2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- 3 ½ cups Flour
- 4 tsp Baking Powder
Ingredients for the Icing:
- 2 cup Powdered Sugar Sifted
- 2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- 8 tsp Water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Spray a cookie sheet with nonstick baking spray.
- Add flour and baking soda in a sifter. Sift the two together into a bowl.
- In a second larger bowl add butter and sugar. Use an electric mixer to cream the butter and sugar together.
- Add the eggs and vanilla to the bowl. Continue to mix the eggs and vanilla into the butter mixture.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients;
- With your hands knead the dough together. As needed add more flour so that you can work with the dough.
- Tear off equal lengths of dough. Roll each piece of dough to make a log.
- Twirl each piece of dough into a small rope. Put each dough twist on the cookie sheet.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Take out of the oven and allow cooling on the cookie sheet for several minutes.
Directions for the Icing:
- Add powder sugar, vanilla, and water in a small bowl. Whisk to combine the ingredients.
- Dip each cookie into the bowl of icing. Return the cookies to the cookie sheet and top each cookie with holiday sprinkles.
- Set aside to dry.
