When I was younger, my grandmother would make the most amazing cabbage steaks.

They were so flavorful and tender that I could never get enough. As an adult, I decided to try making them myself. My version turned out great, but it’s not quite the same as my grandmother’s. I think she might have put a little bit of love into her cooking that I can’t quite replicate. Still, they’re a delicious and healthy meal that I enjoy preparing often.

The key to making delicious cabbage steaks is to cook them slow and low. You want them to be tender and juicy, not dry and tough. My favorite way to cook them is in the oven with a little bit of olive oil and salt.

  • Head of green cabbage
  • Kosher salt
  • Garlic salt
  • Smoked paprika
  • Black pepper
  • Cajun seasoning

How to make Cabbage Steaks

Using a baking sheet, grease it with a little amount of olive oil

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees

Slice the cabbage into 1/2 thick slices

Lay flat on the baking sheet and brush each slice with olive oil

Season each slice with salt, garlic salt, smoked paprika, black pepper, and cajun seasoning

Roast the cabbage slices in the oven for 40-60 minutes or until the cabbage is baked to your liking
