Apple dumplings are one of the best things you can make using apples. In fact, you don’t even have to mess around peeling, coring, and chopping fresh apples when you can use apple pie filling. The refrigerated crescent dough also makes light work of the pastry, and then you will also need butter, brown sugar, and lemon-lime soda to make the dumplings.

Grandma always made the best desserts and this is one of the nicest! Serve warm apple dumplings with your choice of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, or enjoy them as they are.

We are a little spoiled these days with all these wonderful recipes on social media and the world wide web. Where did Grandma get her recipes from?

Although the best recipes are those passed down the generations, Grandma’s ancestors wouldn’t have had access to lemon-lime soda or readymade crescent dough, so perhaps she was just incredibly creative, in which case we are all impressed with such wonderful recipes and happy to continue the tradition!

Variations and Substitutions:
Experiment with different pie-filling flavors to change the dish. Cherry pie filling would be wonderful or you could try the blueberry variety. For the soda, consider Sprite, 7Up, or even old-fashioned lemonade (since this is an old-fashioned recipe after all!)
