As we mentioned, there are many ways to serve this dish. You can add a side salad or some pasta on the side for a full meal, or you can serve it as an appetizer for your guests with some fresh fruit on the side.

What type of steak did you use for this recipe?

If you want to enjoy the traditional flavors from the streets of Philly, then the only way to go is using thinly sliced ribeye steak. It’s super tender and has beautiful marbling that holds its texture and will not dry out. You can also use chuck roast which would make for a thicker sandwich. Or use flank steak that is super lean and tender, but nothing can beat the ribeye steak. If you use chuck roast or flank steak, make sure you render the meat down low and slow to make sure it does not dry out.

If I make my own garlic bread will it hold up as well as texas toast?

There is truly nothing better than homemade recipes so we highly encourage you to make your own. The bread needs to be thick and hearty with a crisp crust and soft center. Add melted butter, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning to replicate the frozen toast from your local store.

6 Slices of frozen Texas Toast Garlic cheese bread

½ C. Sliced Green bell peppers

½ C. Slices Onion

12 oz. Shaved thin cheesesteak meat

3 Slices provolone cheese
