Firstly, after research, we discovered that Salmon Patties originated in France. For this reason; they have become super popular in the southern state of the US because they focus a lot on French cuisine and Creole-inspired recipes. But, what is Creole cooking? Well, it is a blend of some amazing flavors from around the world. In conclusion, this style of cooking incorporates french, Spanish, American, and West African styles of cooking to create a beautiful and spicy blend of unique recipes you will LOVE!
Secondly, this recipe we created is super easy and cheap to make! You don’t need to break the bank to make a similar flavor you can expect when you visit Louisiana. In under 30 minutes you can have these golden brown Southern Fried Salmon Patties on your plate and ready to dip in your favorite sauce.
Can I use fresh salmon if I prefer that flavor?
As we always say, you can cater these recipes to your preferred style of flavor and cooking. If you prefer the freshness of your seafood then you can substitute the canned salmon for a salmon fillet. You don’t have to change any of the steps if you do choose this ingredient.
What dipping sauces do you recommend?
Usually, we recommend either a homemade or premade tartar sauce. This sauce has a sweet, savory, and tangy flavor with a creaminess that complements the fried seafood perfectly. If you are on the east coast, then you probably add an old bay or something similar to everything. You can sprinkle some of this seasoning on top of your patties or dip your pieces and experience a puckering flavor. Another sauce people use is apple cider vinegar for a tangy flavor or cocktail sauce. You can use any sauces you want but those are typically the dipping sauces used for fried seafood.
