This One-Pot Cabbage Casserole recipe will delight your little ones and your whole family.
Prep Time: 20 minutes | Cook Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 50 minutes | Makes: 6 servings
Ingredients:
2 lb. (80/20%) Beef
1 tbsp Creole Seasoning
1 White Onion (Chopped)
1 cup White Rice (Uncooked)
3 Large Handfuls Of Chopped Cabbage (Roughly)
¼ cup Tomato Paste
2 (14 oz) Canes Of Diced Tomatoes (Undrained)
1 cup Shredded Colby Jack Cheese
Directions:
Step 1. Add ground beef to a skillet (or cast iron) with a lid. Sprinkle Creole seasoning over the meat while browning. Stir in the chopped onion while the beef continues to brown.
Step 2. Continue to cook the onion until they are mostly clear. Drain off the grease.
Step 3. Stir in the uncooked rice, cabbage, tomato paste with two cups of water,diced tomatoes, and It’s juice. Stir well to mix.
Step 4. Bring this to a boil then reduce the temperature to a medium-low. Cover and simmer until the rice is cooked and the cabbage is soft. (20-30 minutes) The lid must cover the skillet for at least 20 minutes.
Step 5. Once this has cooked, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
Step 6. Cover and continue to cook for a few minutes to melt the cheese.
