This stuffed Italian sausage is perfect when you are in a pinch for a quick dinner for you and your family. I am an expert when it comes to making quick dinners for my family. Most days rush right by and dinner time comes, I don’t get stressed, I just pull out my trusty rolodex of recipes to make in a pinch. This one tops the list!
Cheese Stuffed Italian Sausages are perfect way to serve a delicious dinner to your family and friends and they will think you planned it all day. The prep time for these yummy Italian Sausages is just 5 minutes, if that. You can throw them together and pop them in the oven and walk the dog around the block and when you return, presto, they are ready to serve.
Some of my favorite things to serve these Cheese Stuffed Italian Sausages with are mashed cauliflower, steamed broccoli, cheesy baked asparagus. All keeping in line that low-carb trend but delicious all the same.
How To Make Cheese Stuffed Italian Sausages:
Step One: Set your oven to 400 degrees and allow it to preheat.
Step Two: Take the Italian sausage and using a knife or kitchen shears cut the casings down the center but do not cut the whole way through the sausage. Repeat until all your sausages are cut down the center.
Step Three: Take the cheese sticks and put it in the opening in each sausage, fold the sausage around the cheese stick as much as possible.
Step Four: In a baking dish, add 1 ¼ cup of low carb marinara to the bottom of the dish and place the stuffed Italian sausage on top of the sauce.
Step Five: At 400 degrees, bake 25-30 minutes. The sausage will be cooked, and cheese will be melted when finished. Serve on salad or with your favorite low-carb side dish.
Enjoy!
Can I Substitute Other Sausages for Italian Sausage?
Yes, some of my favorite sausages are turkey sausage, pork hot sausage, and chicken sausages with sage. I have also used other cheeses such as feta, gorgonzola, and cheddar. a
Can I Freeze These Sausages?
If I am going to freeze these sausages, I prep them right before putting them in the pan with the marinara sauce, and then store them in the freezer in an airtight container. I then pull them out and thaw them in the refrigerator and then back them as instructed. You can freeze them after baking them, but the cheese may run out of them when reheating.
Are There Other Variations I Can Do To These Stuffed Sausages?
I love to sauté onions, peppers, and mushrooms to serve with these Cheese Stuffed Italian Sausages. You can also add a variety of spices to them depending on the sausages you use. If they are already spicy you may not want to add to many additional seasons.
