Welcome to Bev’s Baby Shower! This post is one of dozens made just for our beloved Bev Cooks. Once you’ve nabbed this recipe, hop to the bottom of this post and discover all of the delicious eats and treats inspired by our favorite new baby mama!
Dear Bev,
Remember the first time you came into my life? I do.
A witty little comment appeared at the end of a blog post, and I thought, “well, hello there feisty chicken.”
Two or three little comments a week were dropped. They were witty and lively, vaguely sarcastic and hilarious–but always playful and perfect. It wasn’t long until I hunted you down, fell in love with your superfabby cooking skillz and web wordsmitthing, and forced you to be my forever friend that I’ve never met.
Life is better with you, girl. And now, it’s ’bout to be betta betta, because there’s two tiny tots being birthed from your belly, and good gawd, if that’s not just happy excitement all around.
Still. From one twin mama to another: things is abouts to get all craycray up in your hizzy.
Oh, you’ll be in love with all the chaos and such. There’s really no option left by those cherubic people who fall into your life and ruin it in the nicest way possible. They’ll be pink cheeked and curly eyelashes and everything everything all the time.
But, you’re gonna be tired. And you’re gonna wonder what happened to your mojo somedays. And you’re gonna have to revamp. And all of that is okay. Because, turns out, being flexible is fun.
So is discovering you still have all that mojo hidden underneath the hectic minutes of the day. You can still throw one heck of a party, and you can still rock a pair of skinny jeans–despite needing spanx for a month or eighty. It’s all gonna be good. So, so good.
And here’s the ultimate secret…it’s better when you have a few tricks up your sleeve. Shortcut, girl. Don’t try to be a hero all the time. Call people over, pour some bubbly, keep making magic. But, simplify. Breathe. And take time to bathe.
How to do it? Oh, there’s no secret. You’ll never actually be able to do any of that anyway. But, let’s pretend. And also, for those moments when you wanna feel like a gourmand, but are shoving ish into a diaper bag just so you can leave the house for fourteen minutes without running into an emergency, here’s my favorite fast-prep party appie. You can pull it together, tote it, and wow that crap out of a room full of guests in two minutes flat.
Which will leave you more than enough time to try to sneak in a shower before noon. Or something thereafter. Because, darling. Noon showering is so overrated.
And don’t you forget it.
I adore you, mama. You’re gonna be a dream.
See? This here is your lineup. It’s easy easy easy easy easy.
Did I mention easy?
Plate. Pile. Pile. Drizzle honey. Be done with it. You’re a rockstar.
Serve it on slate. Pretend you’re What Katie Ate. Food blogger escape art. That’s how we do it.
