Low carb recipes tend to be hearty and filling and this garlic butter chicken is certainly no exception to the rule. Cayenne pepper, garlic and parsley add flavor, while chicken broth, butter, cream, and cheese help to make this indulgent and satisfying.

If you’re on a low carb eating plan you might like to serve this over a bed of cauliflower rice or you could opt for steamed baby spinach instead. If not, then regular rice is always good or you could have a baked potato or even some pasta on the side instead.

It’s a one-pot recipe because you will be cooking the chicken in the pan, then making the sauce, and finally adding the chicken back in so you can mix everything together. Not only does this make it simpler but it also cuts down on the washing up, and that is always a good thing! So, if you have some chicken to use up and you love hearty, creamy chicken dishes, this one is a must-make!

Chicken is such a versatile protein and goes just as well with rich, creamy sauces as it does with spicy or aromatic ones. If you do love a good, creamy sauce though, you’re going to adore the taste of this amazing creamy garlic butter chicken. It’s full of flavor and suits all kinds of side dishes. Oh, and it’s a breeze to cook too, and only requires one pan!

Why You’ll Love the Recipe:
Not only is this a very cheap recipe to make but it’s also a versatile one. You can use chicken legs, thighs, breasts or even a whole chicken if you cut it up into pieces. You will also be pleasantly surprised how much the garlic flavor works with the creamy chicken. You might see the recipe calls for 15 (yes 15!) garlic cloves but honestly that amount is perfect. If you have large garlic cloves you might want to reduce it to 8-10 however.
How to Serve It:
Serve the creamy chicken as soon as it’s done, over a bed of rice, cauliflower rice, steamed baby spinach, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles. You can serve some veggies on the side, or opt for a simple green salad, perhaps with a vinaigrette dressing to contrast with the rich, creamy chicken.

Can You Make It Ahead?
Although creamy garlic chicken is best served as soon as it’s ready, you can prepare it in advance and then warm it up gently on the stove.
Storage Instructions:
Leftovers should be good for up to 3 days. You can reheat the dish in the microwave. You can also freeze this, although the creamy sauce will separate a bit so you might prefer not to.
Variations and Substitutions:
You can use turkey or even pork instead of chicken here. Also, if you’re not looking for a low-carb recipe in particular, you could sub light cream or Half & Half for the heavy whipping cream. If you do this, you’ll probably need a bit less since it doesn’t thicken as much as the heavier cream. Another idea is to use half light cream and half cream cheese instead.
