Is there anything more perfect than a large scoop of your favorite rice to pair with sweet and sour chicken?
You are not only changing up dinner but inviting new cultures into your family’s pallets. Simply add butter, salt, and pepper or garlic to your rice and enjoy. Don’t doctor it up too much because the sauce will infuse into each grain of rice and fill your side with flavor.
Can you substitute the chicken breast for another cut of chicken?
You absolutely can switch out the cut of chicken if you prefer dark meat. Dark meat tends to be juicier and has a slightly gamier flavor profile. If you have the time you could even make a variety of both types to give your guests an option. Trust us, it will all be gone no matter what.
If I don’t want to use rice, what other side do you recommend?
Rice is a traditional side of this international dish. However, any starch pairs well with the heavy sauce. You can use potatoes, pasta, quinoa, or fries.
