Ravioli is a popular pasta option and cheese ravioli are always worth keeping in the freezer, or even in the fridge if you’re using the fresh kind. However, the ravioli is more of a starting point than a finished dish, and you can use it in place of plain pasta if you want to add a gourmet touch to your evening meal.

The following recipe pairs cheese ravioli with garlic, marinara, beef, and herbs, along with cheese, for a fantastic result.

  • Dried basil
  • Frozen cheese ravioli
  • Minced garlic
  • Marinara
  • Dried parsley
  • Ground beef
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Grated Parmesan cheese

How to make Baked Ravioli:

Step 1. Cook the ravioli according to the directions on the package, drain and set aside. 

Step 2. Add the ground beef to a skillet over medium-high heat, and saute until browned. Drain the excess fat. 

Step 3. Stir a cup of sauce into the meat mixture, and sprinkle in the dried basil. 

Step 4. Add the remaining marinara sauce to the ravioli, and toss to coat well. 

Step 5. Spread half of the ravioli into the bottom of a well-greased 9×13 baking dish. 

Step 6. Top with the meat mixture, and then ½ of the Parmesan and Mozzarella cheeses. 

Step 7. Layer the rest of the ravioli on top, and sprinkle with the rest of the cheese. 

Step 8. Bake for 20 minutes.

  • 1 Tbsp. Minced garlic
  • 24 oz. Jar of marinara
  • ½ tsp. Dried parsley
  • 1 lb. Ground beef
  • 8 oz. Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ C. Grated Parmesan cheese

Can You Make It Ahead?

You can make it ahead up to the baking stage, and then just bake it later when you’re ready.

Storage Instructions:

Leftovers will keep for up to 4 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Although it will freeze, the ravioli will thaw out a bit mushy.

Variations and Substitutions:

You can use another flavor of ravioli if you want or try ground pork in place of the beef. Something else to consider is adding a touch of spice to the dish – perhaps sliced jalapenos or a pinch of chili powder. A splash of hot sauce would also work.
