Slow Cooker Beef and Potato Gratin

This crockpot-friendly gratin can be left to its own devices. As soon as you’ve added the ingredients to the slow cooker, you can just forget all about it until you catch a whiff of your kitchen smelling incredible about 4 hours later!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tsp. Dried thyme
  • 1 lb. Ground beef
  • 3 C. Cheddar cheese
  • 3 lbs. Potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • ½ C. Chicken broth
  • 1 Small onion chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. Minced garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Add the ground beef to a skillet over medium high heat and season with salt and pepper to taste. Saute until completely browned. Drain the excess grease.
  2. Layer half of the potatoes in a slow cooker.
  3. Sprinkle half of the thyme, garlic, onions and salt and pepper to taste on top.
  4. Spread half of the meat and sprinkle half of the cheese on top.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
  6. Add the worcestershire sauce and chicken broth to the slow cooker.
  7. Cook for 4 hours on high.
