Prepare a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with a nonstick baking dish. Set aside.
Add the butter, white and brown sugar to a heavy pot on medium heat. Use a wooden spoon and keep stirring until the mixture begins to boil. Continue to boil until it reaches a 300 degree F. Take off of the heat.
Combine the chopped pecans and semisweet chocolate chips in a large bowl. Scatter them evenly on the bottom of the baking dish.
Pour the hot mixture of melted butter and both sugars. Set the pan aside and let it cool completely.
Break into pieces before serving, Store leftovers in a container with a lid.
