Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray baking spray over a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.
Combine the apple pie filling, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a medium bowl. Stir to mix with a rubber spatula.
Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking pan.
Use an offset spatula to smooth out the filling. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the filling.
With the rubber spatula spread the sauce evenly over the filling. Pour the dry cake mix over the layers of the apple filling.
Spread it evenly in the pan. Place the chilled butter pieces all over the cake pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. (The cake will be slightly browned and the filling bubbling. )
Set aside to cool slightly before serving.
