Buckle up friends, because we have a comfort meal that will put you on the couch immediately after you finish eating. This recipe is not for anyone on a diet or watching their calories because something that tastes this good can not be healthy for you right? We only live once so we might as well enjoy it!
Cheese, Potato, and Smoked Sausage Casserole is just that! It’s such a versatile recipe that can be served as a side for your entree, you can also use it as an appetizer for hosting a large get-together, a sheet pan-sized amount (double the recipe) to serve at your summer cookouts, or your main dish for cheese and carb overload! We definitely need that sometimes right? Carbs and cheese make everything better.
The flavors are wild and vibrant from the smokey flavor of the sausage, paprika, and spicy black pepper balancing the creamy and smoothness of the cheese.
What could be better than these flavors? Baking all of these into one dish makes for simple clean-up, preparation, baking, and serving. You don’t need multiple serving bowls, just place this casserole in the center of your table and make sure a towel is nearby to catch the ooey-gooey cheese melting off your serving utensil.
I like more spice, how can I level up this recipe?
Cheese and paprika are the best way to enhance the spicy flavor of this casserole. Substitute the cheddar cheese for habanero or any other spicy cheese. You can also use smoked paprika for a BBQ-style flavor and more kick in each bite.
