Gram’s Frozen Fruit Salad

There is no end to fruit salad variations, and you probably have your own favorite, whether that’s a sweet, heavenly Ambrosia-type salad or a simple combination of your favorite two or three fruits, perhaps enjoyed with a scoop of yogurt for breakfast or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 sliced bananas
  • 8 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1 pint chopped fresh strawberries
  • 20 ounces canned crushed pineapple drained
  • 2 cups whipped cream or whipped topping plus more to serve

Method
 

  1. Beat the strawberries and cream cheese with an electric mixer.
  2. Stir in the bananas, pineapple and whipped cream with a spoon.
  3. Spoon the mixture into a 13x9-inch baking pan and put in the freezer to set (this can take a whole day).
  4. Let the frozen fruit salad sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
