Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza

Enjoy the upsidedown pizza famous in Chicago with cheese on the bottom and then topped with sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings. Everyone in the family will love the buttery crust and amazing herbs throughout their slice.
Servings: 1 large pizza

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 - 1 lb of pizza dough thawed
  • 1 can of fire roasted basil tomatoes
  • 1 small jar of pizza sauce
  • 2 - 16 oz bag of Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 C grated parmesan cheese
  • Pepperoni for topping
  • Fresh Basil and shredded parmesan cheese for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Using a 9in cast iron dish, brush the cast iron with olive oil
  3. Unroll the pizza dough into the pan and up the sides of the pan
  4. Using a small bowl, combine the pizza sauce and can of tomatoes
  5. Spoon the tomatoes into the pizza dough
  6. Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella cheese
  7. Place a even layer of pepperoni on top of the cheese
  8. Sprinkle with more cheese and fresh basil
  9. Bake in the oven for 30 - 45 minutes or until the dough is a nice golden brown
  10. Allow to cool before enjoying!
