Cajun Shrimp Pasta with Sausage

Perfectly spiced shrimp with andouille sausage laid on a bed of bow tie pasta. The pasta sauce is made with cajun seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and heavy cream for a smooth and robust sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ lb. Shrimp peeled and deveined
  • ½ lb. Andouille sausage sliced into pieces
  • 1 Tbsp. Cajun seasoning
  • Olive oil
  • ½ Onion sliced thin
  • ½ Red bell pepper sliced thin
  • 1 tsp. Paprika
  • 1 tsp. Thyme
  • 1 Tbsp. Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp. Brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. Minced garlic
  • ½ C. Crushed tomatoes
  • ¾ C. Chicken broth
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • ¾ C. Heavy whipping cream
  • 12 oz. Bow tie pasta
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan and chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Method
 

  1. Cook the pasta to your liking and drain.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat on the stove.
  3. Add the shrimp and 1 Tbsp. cajun seasoning, and saute until the shrimp are cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. Add the sausage to the same skillet and saute until browned and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  5. Reduce the heat to medium on the stove, and add some more olive oil to the skillet along with the onions and peppers. Saute until the vegetables become tender.
  6. Mix in the garlic and saute another 30 seconds.
  7. Stir in the paprika, thyme, 1 tbsp. Cajun seasoning, brown sugar, crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, heavy whipping cream, and salt and pepper to taste. Saute until the sauce thickens.
  8. Add the shrimp, sausage, and cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine well.
  9. Serve garnished with fresh chopped parsley and parmesan cheese.
