Broccoli and Shrimp Alfredo

This delicious shrimp and broccoli alfredo dish is so simple to make and it has such a fresh and tempting taste. It’s one of the best things you can make if you want shrimp and pasta for dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound peeled medium or large shrimp
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cups broccoli in florets
  • 8 ounces uncooked small shell pasta shapes
  • ¼ cup water
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • 3 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • cup freshly grated parmesan cheese plus more to serve
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Method
 

  1. Warm the oil in a pan then add the shrimp and cook for 4 or 5 minutes, or until cooked through.
  2. Transfer them into a dish and keep warm.
  3. Put the water in the pan along with the broccoli, then cover and cook until tender.
  4. Add the broccoli to the dish with the shrimp and keep warm.
  5. Add the butter to the pan and melt it.
  6. Add the garlic and cook for a minute.
  7. Meanwhile, put the pasta on to cook.
  8. Whisk the flour into the butter mixture, then add the cream gradually, whisking all the time.
  9. Now mix in the cheese and season to taste with salt and black pepper.
  10. Now put the shrimp and broccoli back in the pan and stir to warm it back up again.
  11. Drain the pasta once cooked, and add to the shrimp mixture.
  12. Toss to combine and serve, topped with parmesan and offering extra cheese on the side.
