Sausage Peppers and Onions

Can you think of a more simple and more tasty meal than combining the spicy flavors of sausage with the sweetness of colored peppers and sweet onions? It’s a meal that is super versatile and can be served for lunch, dinner, sharing, or a snack. Anything you can think of!

Sausage, Peppers, and Onions only contain a few ingredients for an outstanding flavor! It’s a recipe you can whip up in a pinch and will not disappoint!

How can I serve this Sausage, Peppers, and Onions recipe?

The options are pretty much endless. If you just want something simple for the family, or a snack for yourself while relaxing on the couch after a long day; this meal is perfect and easy to create. You can also toast up some delicious hoagie rolls and stuff them with your sausage, then top with the peppers and onions. This is an east coast favorite if you are from the states. If you haven’t tried it like this before; you are certainly missing out! The hoagie is a thicker bun and once you toast it, slather it with either melted butter or your favorite condiment, then add in your filling; wow is the flavor incredible! Sausage, Peppers, and Onions also go really well on top of pasta for a full dish! Add to your polenta as well! As you can see, the options are super fun and unique. We have even cut the sausage up and topped a salad with these spicy and sweet ingredients!

Using Italian influence, this dish has robust garlic, Italian seasoning, and Italian sausage. If you like a spicer kicker to your meal then you can use spicy Italian or regular spicy sausage and maybe add a dash of cayenne pepper. The flavors will be intense but delicious!

Here is all you need to make your next meal!

5 Italian sausages

2 Tbsp. Olive oil

1 Red bell pepper cut into strips

1 Orange bell pepper cut into strips

1 Yellow bell pepper cut into strips

3 tsp. Minced garlic

1 Can Crushed tomatoes

1 C. Onion sliced

2 tsp. Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Let’s start making your Sausage, Peppers, and Onions!

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat on the stove.

Brown the sausages on all sides for a few minutes, and then remove from the skillet.

Add the onions and peppers to the skillet, and saute for about 5 minutes until they begin to become tender. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Place the minced garlic into the pan with the vegetables, and saute for 30 seconds.

Mix in the crushed tomatoes and Italian seasoning as well as more salt and pepper to taste.

Add the sausages back into the skillet, and cover. Simmer for 20-25 minutes until the sausages are cooked through and vegetables are tender.
