Salisbury Steak Mushroom Gravy

A southern-inspired comfort meal made with ground beef and creamy gravy that's super juicy and simple to create any night of the week.

Ingredients
  

Steak:

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef or cube beef tenderloins
  • 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 2 large Eggs room temp
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • ΒΌ tsp. Ground pepper
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil

Mushroom Gravy:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 8 oz mushrooms sliced
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1 Tbsp.minced garlic
  • 1 tsp. Italian seasonings
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 3 cup beef broth
  • kosher salt
  • black pepper

Instructions
 

  • If using ground beef, add the steak ingredients in a large bowl, mix to combine.
  • Make the ground beef into 4 individual oval patties
  • In a large pan add the oil, and heat over medium-high heat.
  • When the oil is hot, add the beef patties to the skillet.
  • Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.
  • Remove the patties and set to the side.
  • In the same skillet with the juices, add the mushrooms and onion and cook over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes.
  • Cook the onion mushroom mixture until a golden brown.
  • Add the flour into the skillet with the mushrooms onions, and stir until there are no more lumps of flour.
  • Gradually add the beef stock to the mushroom mixture, whisk until combined.
  • Raise the stovetop temperature to high heat, whisk to incorporate.
  • Once the gravy begins to boil, reduce the heat to low.
  • Allow the gravy to simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Place the Salisbury steak patties back in the pan with the gravy and cook for about 5 to 10 minute.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes.
