Smothered Pork Chops

Pork chops are a classic dish that can be made in a variety of ways. In this particular recipe, the pork chops are smothered in a creamy sauce and topped with cheese.

Ingredients
  

THE PORK CHOPS’ INGREDIENTS

  • 3-4 1- inch thick bone-in pork chops
  • 1 tsp poultry seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter unsalted

ONION GRAVY

  • 1 tbsp butter unsalted
  • 1 yellow onion sliced thin
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp fresh thyme
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth low sodium
  • 1 ⁄4 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh parsley chopped

Instructions
 

  • Season pork chops with salt and pepper to taste.
  • In a large skillet, add the olive oil and butter over medium to high heat.
  • Stir to combine until butter is melted.
  • Place the pork in the skillet and sear for 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Place the pork on a plate to the side.
  • In the large add a tablespoon of butter, and stir until melted.
  • Add the sliced onions to the skillet and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Stir the onions often until the onions are cooked tender and have a light caramelization. Add the minced garlic and thyme and toss to combine.
  • Pour the broth into the onion mixture and stir to combine.
  • Begin to add the heavy cream and stir until the cream is fully incorporated.
  • Place the pork chops back into the skillet.
  • Cook for 5-7 minutes while randomly topping each chop with the onion mixture. Garnish with parsley and enjoy
