Red Velvet Cookies

Take your traditional chocolate chip cookies to the next level with these Red Velvet Cookies. Each cookie is rolled in a mixture of regular and mini chocolate chips to ensure you enjoy delicious chocolate with each bite.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 C + 1 TBSP flour
  • 1/4 C unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 C unsalted sweet cream butter softened
  • 3/4 C packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 C sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp whole milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 C mini chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together.
  • Using an electric mixer, cream together the butter, brown sugar, sugar until creamy and fluffy
  • Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla.
  • Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  • Add the food coloring and beat until combined.
  • Turn the mixer off and add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
  • Slowly beat with the mixer on low until a very soft dough is formed. Fold in the chocolate chips; the dough will be sticky.
  • With the dough in the bowl cover it tightly with plastic wrap chilling it for at least 1 hour
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line two large cookie sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • Using a small ice cream scooper, scoop out some dough and roll it into a ball
  • Place the mini chocolate chips into a bowl
  • Dip the top of the cookie dough ball into the mini chocolate chips, only coating half of the dough
  • Place onto a cookie sheet and lightly press down Repeat steps for 11 more cookies, you can only bake 12 cookies at a time on a cookie sheet
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 13 minutes
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool completely!
  • Enjoy!
