What could be better than the classic gooey Chocolate Chip Cookies we all love?
Chocolate Chip Cookies made with decadent red velvet!
These Red Velvet Cookies are overflowing with delicious chocolate chip morsels that will satisfy any chocolate craving with just one bite.
Makes: 2 dozen cookies
Ingredients:
1 ½ C + 1 TBSP flour
¼ C unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
½ C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
¾ C packed brown sugar
¼ C sugar
1 large egg
1 tbsp whole milk
2 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp red food coloring
1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 C mini chocolate chips
Instructions:
Step 1: In a large bowl whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together.
Step 2: Using an electric mixer, cream together the butter, brown sugar, sugar until creamy and fluffy
Step 3: Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla.
Step 4: Scrape down the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
Step 5: Add the food coloring and beat until combined.
Step 6: Turn the mixer off and add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
Step 7: Slowly beat with the mixer on low until a very soft dough is formed. Fold in the chocolate chips; the dough will be sticky.
Step 8: With the dough in the bowl cover it tightly with plastic wrap chilling it for at least 1 hour
Step 9: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line two large cookie sheets with parchment paper. Set aside.
Step 10: Using a small ice cream scooper, scoop out some dough and roll it into a ball
Step 11: Place the mini chocolate chips into a bowl
Step 12: Dip the top of the cookie dough ball into the mini chocolate chips, only coating half of the dough
Step 13: Place onto a cookie sheet and lightly press down Repeat steps for 11 more cookies, you can only bake 12 cookies at a time on a cookie sheet
Step 14: Bake in the preheated oven for 13 minutes
Step 15: Remove from oven and allow to cool completely! Enjoy!
The baking time is important so your chocolate chips don’t completely melt all the way until they hit your mouth.
Rolling each cookie in a bathe of chocolate chips ensures they melt just enough inside the cookie so they are distributed evenly.
